Denali Woodworks background

From creating childhood birdhouse and pinewood derby projects in his father’s workshop, to building his first piece of solid wood furniture in his teens, Denali Woodworks owner Jason Skagen has loved working with wood throughout his entire life. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with an engineering degree, Jason worked in food manufacturing for 14 years. During his spare time, he built bedroom sets, desks, hope chests, and other custom furniture for family and friends. Ultimately, demand for his business was great enough that he decided to open Denali Woodworks, a Minnesota based company serving the Minneapolis, Rochester, and St. Paul areas, with customers reaching into Wisconsin and Iowa.

Unique to Denali Woodworks is a personal approach to design and create that perfect furniture piece in woods and sizes not normally available from a large company. Jason hand selects locally sourced wood, including book matched, live edged or reclaimed slabs. Whether building a custom home dining table, modern coffee table, or commercial furniture project, Jason works one on one with each customer to be sure they are satisfied with the final design. He creates handcrafted, solid wood pieces that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

Since Jason is an avid outdoorsman and frequent traveler to our State and National parks, Denali was a fitting name for the company. Additionally, it was also the name of Jason’s first shop dog.
